Built in the mid ‘30s when anything modern instantly symbolized the promise of a more prosperous tomorrow, the Pan-Pacific's magnificent Streamline Moderne towers would come to define an entire era of architecture and the City of Angels itself during the period. The original facade was devastated by fire in 1989, and the spirit of the original towers live on, albeit in smaller scale, as part of the Pan Pacific Recreation Center.
